John and Jan Eggenberg, Owner/Operators

You’ve fallen in love with that house for sale across town. The open floor plan is a winner; the backyard fits your active family’s needs; the location is absolutely perfect; you don’t even have to paint. You’ve arranged the financing and you’re negotiating a deal, but you have to schedule an inspection. It’s critical that problems, large or small, are understood and countered now so you can address solutions with the seller before the sale.

What exactly does an inspection entail? These are the areas most likely to need checking:

  • Drainage and minor structural—making sure the foundation hasn’t cracked, shifted or settled, causing improper water drainage
  • Wiring—checking for exposed or improper wiring and oversize circuit breakers
  • Roof, doors and windows—searching for such items as improper flashing, poor attic ventilation, lack of caulking and wood rot
  • Furnace and air-conditioner—checking for gas leaks and abnormal carbon-monoxide levels and determining age and condition
  • Maintenance—looking for peeling paint, loose caulk and damp siding
  • Plumbing—checking for corroded or clogged drain lines and improper venting
  • Ventilation—ensuring there is proper attic ventilation and that rooms with exterior walls have heating vents
  • Environmental—testing for radon and mold

You want an expert you can trust to inspect thoroughly and identify problem areas. Meet John and Jan Eggenberg, owner/operators of SUREHOME Inspection Services. John has more than 7,000 home inspections under his belt, so he’s not a novice.

The Eggenbergs founded SUREHOME in 2004. John, a certified home inspector since 1998 and former president of the Greater Omaha American Society of Home Inspectors, has a background in construction inspection. Jan’s experience is in marketing and advertising. They are both active members in the real-estate community, and they understand “knowledge is power.”

SUREHOME’s only business is providing an impartial, comprehensive and independent evaluation, performed according to proper ASHI ethical codes and standards, throughout the Omaha metro and surrounding area. The average inspection takes roughly three hours. Afterward, you’ll get a copy of the report with clear descriptions, a chance to ask questions and a host of free warranties. You’ll get free technical support for life. They’ll even set up your new utilities. What are you waiting for? To learn more or schedule an inspection, contact:
