There are a variety of reasons for continuing to live in a much-loved home. You thought about moving but didn’t want the hassle or the cost. You love your location or that garden you’ve labored for years to make the showpiece it is. Or maybe this is where you raised your kids and you have a sentimental attachment. No matter the reason, you’re staying put.
However, just because you’re not moving doesn’t mean you wouldn’t like to spruce up the homestead. Maybe you want to put in a double vanity or remodel the master bathroom entirely? Maybe you want to repair that vinyl siding, finish the basement or replace that circa 1990s golden-oak lighting fixture in the kitchen? Or maybe it’s more serious—Grandmother is moving in and you have accessibility issues.
Those would all be great to take care of, but you don’t know a masonry nail from an anchor bolt, a miter joint from a floor joist. You need help. You need a pro. Meet Mario Houston, home remodeler and handyman.
Mario has more than 20 years experience in construction trades. Raised in Stanton, Iowa, he has machinist, estimator’s assistant and commercial project manager on his resume. He earned his machinist training at Iowa Western Community College, then his bachelor’s degree in business management at Bellevue University. He worked for Controlled Comfort and Thermal Services, heating and air-conditioning services. He opened Houston Services in 2015 as a sideline job, but it quickly grew into a company of four employees.
While Houston Services has gradually shifted primary focus over the years to home remodeling, Mario and his team can still fix those minor things such as installing a ceiling fan, putting in a porch railing, adding dining-room crown moldings and installing a new bamboo floor, as well as those big projects such as remodeling your bathroom or basement.
There’s very little in the home remodeling and handyman realm Houston Services can’t handle for you. It was even named a 2019 winner in Omaha Magazine’s Best of Omaha. And there’s never been a better name for a guy who can take care of your home’s issues. I dare you not to think, “Houston, we have a problem.”
